Charles Waruru has vast experience in the aviation Industry with over 10,000 flying hours spanning over 25 years in the aviation industry. He holds a Kenyan Airline Transport Licence (ATPL) and is a Captain on the Beech 1900, Beech 200, Dash 8 and Embraer 135/145.
He obtained his Kenyan Private Pilots Licence in 1990. He first joined ALS on attachment in the Operations Department then proceeded for further training to the USA at American Flight Academy Ardmore, Oklahoma to obtain his FAA Commercial Pilot Licence in 1992. He rejoined ALS in the year 1999 as a Line Pilot on the Cessna Caravan 208, Beech 1900 and Beech 200.
In the year 2000, he progressed to become the Chief Pilot and Head of Training and Standards on the Beech 1900 and Beech 200 as well as a Ground School Instructor on the Beech 1900. In 2007, he joined the Dash 8 fleet and in 2014 he joined the Embraer fleet.
Currently he is the Director of Operations at ALS, and he is approved by Kenya Civil Aviation as an Instrument Rating Examiner (IRE), Simulator Instructor (SFI) Simulator Examiner (SFE), Type Rating Instructor (TRI) and Type Rating Examiner (TRE).
